Measuring success.

I am currently reading Yardsticks , the wonderful book by Chip Wood.

This book encourages teachers and parents to understand and honor each child's developmental needs. Wood breaks down (in a very easy-to-follow manner) the developmental characteristics of children at each age from four to fourteen. He describes the growth patterns, developmentally- and age-appropriate classroom behaviors, and curricula that supports each developmental stage.

Children move through stages of early development at their own pace.

We, as parents and educators, should absolutely be cognizant of these developmental stages, using them as a tool as we guide our children through social and academic learning environments.

I wish a happy and productive weekend to you all!
