Christmas.

We had the most amazing Christmas Eve,
spent sledding and trudging through knee-deep snow,
then over to our dear friends for a warm meal, a few glasses of wine,
and we even had cookies and milk for dessert.
Before we headed home, we drove around to ooh and ahh at christmas lights,
then home to put santa's cookies on a plate and get our girl to bed.

I accidentally fell asleep with her, and woke up at ten-thirty
to find that Daddy had Santa totally covered.
In fact, he was the sweetest Santa ever.
He left cookie crumbs behind, a total of three little notes to Ramona,
and perfectly tied red bows on Ramona's new bike and guitar
I was impressed, and not a bit surprised.

Today we woke up slowly, unpacked our stockings,
and watched Ramona light up with each little gift or hint of santa.
Daddy made us our Christmas dutch baby.

After playing with new art supplies,
and listening to Charlie Brown's Christmas soundtrack all day,
the little one is finally asleep
and this song is on repeat until my love gets home.

Wishing you the happiest of holidays, however you spent yours.
As long as it was full of love and joy and lots of fudge, it was surely merry.
